What do you think is the reason why some headmates may exhibit symptoms of a mental illness much more strongly than the other people in a system?
@Owen ˗ˏˋM&M´ˎ˗ - jump
well in my case mental health symptoms have always differed drastically due to dissociation, but dissociation is not the only reason for something like that and there are at least a few more potential explanations for this
first is what lumi said, but that could go under a bigger case of different headmates having different personalities that make them be affected by the symptoms differently. your headmate might be embracing, they might be less concerned, feel it doesn’t affect them, more calm, being more prone to escapism, or anything else
second is that the correlation might be the opposite - not that your headmate doesn’t exhibit the symptoms, but that they are more likely to front when the symptoms of the mental illness are not present
third and which I think might be the most relevant is that it doesn’t need to be looked through the lens of plurality.
singlets are capable of hiding the symptoms of even severe mental illness for years. They build a “mask” that they wear. I’m sure you can think of actors who have been considered happy by everyone, but who struggled with depression for their whole life.
you might made and named the “mask” and it became a separate headmate
the good news is that no matter the reason, you all are capable of experiencing lower symptoms of the mental illness, since one of your headmates is.
your headmate could have developed coping skills that you think are exclusive for them - but they are not, you can access them too
We have definitely taken a step back given mental health stuff going on. Right now, it's a big ask to just vibe in wonderland because it will give a host a headache. We definitely have more breathing room than we did before, but still

Do I have mental health issues? Probably, but I'm not around enough and I don't switch to know.
Also what is shown in wonderland may be different than in physical space. Diagnoses are based on switched-in fronter behavior, not what a tulpa is doing in wonderland(edited)
Our symptoms affect all of us pretty much the same but some things are to varying degrees
For example momo has less anxiety, and i pick my fingers more, and eishi has more adhd-like tendencies

It does seem to be an effect of how we react to the symptoms

We all have the symptoms but we all react to them and display them differently
Yeah. For some reason, I feel extremely depressed generally. I don't know if we have depression, but I'm definitely most prone to being distressed when fronting
Hmm i really don't know much about treating depression when only one headmate has it but if it's just you i would think therapy would be better than meds
Some of us have memories of events and things leading up to our formation, but it's definitely less psychological and more metaphysical in some aspects.
Some of our introjects remember entire lives that they themselves like to consider "real", at least in the sense that it directly impacts their current worldview. Others here just popped into being instantly, with no memories or previous experiences to show.

May has a few particularly nostalgic memories from when she was first created, I can get them by accessing the body’s memory but I don’t feel what she feels when she remembers those moments
more experienced people can correct me if I’m wrong, but for us, proxying is the act of the host (milk) speaking “for” me (tulpa) without switching or possession. I just say what I would like to say and Milk types it out
a simple process I do is
1. imagine tulpa at any level of detail; just a fuzzy idea is fine
2. "zoom in" on any parts that are fuzzy, starting with something easy
3. "zooming in" means making that fuzzy part more clear. ask questions like "what color are their eyes?" "how does this part of their body rest?" "how do their claws work?"; focus on it until you can clearly picture it, even if only from one angle
4. work your way up to more complexity; so, you get their face right, zoom back out and see if there's another part you can clarify, rotate them in your head, have them pose differently
5. rinse/repeat--it's normal if parts get fuzzy after you zoom out and clear up a different spot. just keep playing whack-a-mole for a little while (I like to go between 15-60 minutes of it), and then move on to something else. practice on a daily basis is more important than marathon visualization sessions--this goes for every part of tulpamancy imo, consistency > intensity(edited)

if that's unclear I have other methods--depends on how you like to visualize. My partner is aphantasic, so their method of "visualization" means just breaking down what descriptors are important. "They have white fur," "they're soft," "they have kind eyes that crinkle when they smile," that kind of stuff. They can associate those descriptors together, but they don't get a "movie in their head" when reading books or anything

What do you do as a headmate if you just feel fed up with existing? I get that this is an existential question, but I don't think I've ever heard the tulpamancer side of this question
That’s a very complex question and one that no one here can advice you for. I believe you should try to face the issue and revolve it but if that’s not helping you can try integration or dissipating. Those are more extreme responses
Might not even need a whole guide, the basic process of "Talk to your tulpa, believing they're there and wanting to respond, until they are & can" can work just fine on its own

Like Rusty said, your approach should be personalized to fit your system's needs. We have a policy where anyone (not including Gray given his vow not to die) can choose to dissipate if they want to.
We had two dissipations in our system. We tried strategies to help develop their sense of self to make it stronger, but it was ineffective. Both of them had a weak sense of self for a long period of time and were done.
A long kiss goodnight

i feel like i’m asking too many questions but!!! does anyone have a specific way of proxying? i wanna practice it so my tulpa can get used to speaking and voicing his thoughts without simple one-word answers
This is a digital worksheet that I made with the intent of helping tulpas learn how to speak through practice. Feel free to use whichever parts of the worksheet will be useful to you, and share the results if you like. You can either make a copy of the document to record your tulpa's responses th...
its alright to ask a ton of questions, i think the easiest is to set up one of the few discord proxy bots, and just type out their responses. either in a private server or here if they feel like talking publicly

It’s pretty easy to do the base set up of a new member, name, avatar etc on PK. I think it gets more complicated if you want to do more advanced things (ime)
